D is for Dragons
some say they're not real
But in the Far East
I'm pleased to reveal
That dragons (komodos)
are the real deal.
They grow very large,
Have big mouths and throats,
Enjoy piglets and goats.
But do they breathe fire?
I hear you enquire.
In fact they appear to
(but that's not the same)
‘Though their flickering tongues
look just like a flame
And do they have wings
and fly through the air?
It seems they're too heavy
I'm happy to share.
And what about caves?
They dig their own lair.
So the facts are quite boring – boring.
Real dragons are like yawning – yawning.
Though they can bite without warning – warning.
And what of St George
and that dragon he slew?
It seems George was real
but the details are few!
