Fun Facts about the Civet
Civets are small to medium-sized mammals found mainly across Africa and Asia. They have long bodies, short legs and pointed faces, with many species having spotted or striped markings that help them blend into their surroundings.
Civets are mostly nocturnal, meaning they are most active after dark. Their excellent sense of smell helps them find food at night, which can include fruit, insects, small animals and other foods.
Civets are famous for producing a strong-smelling substance from glands near their tails. This scent is used to mark territory and communicate with other civets, rather than simply being a defensive smell.
