A is for Albatross
A is for albatross,
Mariners beware.
Its not good to shoot them
As they glide on the air.
From Arctic to Antarctic
They sail through the sky,
But they rarely rarely touch down
(they keep their feet dry).
With a wingspan-wide
And a graceful-glide
Over wave-and-tide
Flying far-and-wide
They live in the heavens
starting who knows where
stopping who knows when
then they're off again
fancy free - without a care

Fun Facts about The Albatross
Albatrosses are remarkable seabirds famous for their enormous wingspans. Some species have wingspans of more than 3 metres, making them some of the largest flying birds in the world.
Albatrosses are superb long-distance travellers and spend much of their lives over the open ocean. They can glide for hours with barely a flap of their wings, using wind currents to travel great distances.
Albatrosses are also known for their strong pair bonds. Many albatrosses mate for life, returning to the same breeding grounds and often reuniting with the same partner each year.
